Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Saint Match (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the App. We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes are posted is acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

Saint Match is an iOS and Android application for personal Catholic devotion. The App lets you name a struggle or mood, match with a Catholic saint, receive one short practice, keep an optional streak and Virtue Portfolio, and pray 9-day novenas. Novenas come in two distinct forms: traditional novenas reproduced word for word from published church sources, and optional AI-composed novenas generated around your own intention. Matching a struggle to a saint and traditional novenas are included with the free download. Some features require a paid Pro subscription.

The App is a private devotion tool. It is not a game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for the Catholic Church, the sacraments, or pastoral care.

3. User Accounts

The App creates an anonymous account with Supabase Authentication when you first open it. You do not need to give a name or email to start. You may optionally link an email address for cross-device sync. You are responsible for your device and any linked credentials. You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. You may delete your account at any time in Settings; see Delete your account.

4. Acceptable Use

Use the App for personal spiritual reflection. You may not: (a) reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App; (b) attempt unauthorized access to our servers or databases; (c) transmit harmful, offensive, or illegal content; (d) use the App for a commercial purpose without our written consent; (e) interfere with the App or try to bypass usage limits; (f) present the App’s output as official Church teaching, therapy, or professional counsel.

5. Payment Terms

Saint Match is free to download on iOS through the Apple App Store and on Android through Google Play. Matching a struggle to a saint is included with that download. Traditional published novenas are included. Optional Saint Match Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription:

• Monthly Pro — $4.99 per month (USD)
• Yearly Pro — $39.99 per year (USD)

Pro may include unlimited daily saint matches, unlimited active novenas, full Virtue Portfolio analytics, and PDF export. Exact entitlements are shown in the App at purchase.

On iOS, payments are processed by Apple and charged to your Apple ID. Cancel in iPhone Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Saint Match. On Android, payments are processed by Google Play Billing and charged to the Google account you use on Play. Cancel in the Google Play Store: profile, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, Saint Match. We do not collect or store your card number. Subscriptions are billed in advance and renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under App Store rules. Refunds for Play purchases are handled by Google under Google Play rules. We cannot issue store refunds ourselves. RevenueCat is our receipt and entitlement layer. Full disclosure is on the Subscriptions page.

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

The App uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude, processed on our servers) to generate saint matches, match explanations, practices, and optional AI-composed novena prayers. That content can be incomplete or wrong about a saint’s life, feast day, or Catholic teaching. It is for personal reflection only. It is not official teaching, theological advice, or pastoral guidance. We do not guarantee accuracy. Consult a qualified priest or spiritual director for matters of faith and morals.

7. Traditional Published Prayers

Traditional novenas in the App are local catalog text reproduced word for word from published church sources such as EWTN and the USCCB. They are marked in the App as “Verified published prayer” with an Original source reference. They are not generated or edited by AI, and they are distinct from AI-composed novenas. The underlying prayers belong to their respective publishers or the shared heritage of the Church; we reproduce them for personal devotional use and credit the source. If you believe a text is reproduced in error, contact us and we will review it.

8. Spiritual & Religious Disclaimer

Saint Match is meant to sit beside a real prayer life — Mass, confession, Scripture, and a parish — not replace them. If you are carrying a serious spiritual or moral question, talk to your pastor.

9. Health & Wellness Disclaimer

The App is not medical, psychological, or therapeutic care. Mood check-ins are for devotion, not diagnosis. If you are in crisis, contact a licensed professional or call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the United States).

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAINT MATCH AND ITS DEVELOPERS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA OR LOSS OF STREAKS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR $50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

11. Intellectual Property

The App’s design, code, icons, and brand are owned by Saint Match. Names and historical facts about Catholic saints belong to the shared heritage of the Church and, where applicable, the public domain. Traditional prayer texts remain the property of their publishers where applicable. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

12. User-Generated Content

Mood descriptions, novena intentions, and reflections remain yours. You grant us a limited license to process that content so the App can match saints and generate optional AI-composed prayers. We do not use your personal content to train AI models.

13. Termination

We may suspend or end access if you break these Terms or abuse the service. You may delete your account in Settings. Deletion removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to Terms

We may change these Terms. Material changes will be noted in the App or by email if you have linked one. Continued use after posting is acceptance.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the courts of California, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
